Employment Levels Rising in Silicon Valley as Economy Continues to Recover

Hiring Forecast Optimistic for Silicon Valley in 2011

SUNNYVALE, CA (February 15, 2011) – Silicon Valley employment levels are expected to increase or remain steady in the first half of 2011, according to West Valley Staffing Group’s Economic Forecast Survey.

West Valley Staffing Group (WVSG) periodically surveys an array of hiring managers throughout Silicon Valley about their upcoming hiring needs. The hiring managers come from many industries, including high tech, medical, energy, finance, semiconductors, and manufacturing, etc. Each participant is asked, "Do you expect your hiring needs to increase, remain steady, or decrease in the next quarter and beyond?"

Most companies surveyed (90%), predicted that their hiring will either increase or remain steady in the first half of 2011, a significant improvement from the hiring expectations a year ago. Conversely, only 10% predicted their hiring would decrease in 2011.

"Employment levels have been down the last three years, but now we’re starting to see a turnaround with our clients throughout Silicon Valley,” said Michael Williams, President and CEO of West Valley Staffing Group. “Unemployment levels have dropped to approximately 9% in Silicon Valley. Though many companies are remaining cautious in regards to their hiring, the recent increase we’ve seen in employment show signs of an economic recovery in 2011.”
