Top Five Ways to Enhance Workplace Productivity

1. Communication in an Efficient and Effective Manner - Communication is key to being more productive within the workplace.  As an employee you should ensure you know who your point of contact is, and know how to approach them.  Reaching out and asking for help with a difficult task can help you get it done more quickly and efficiently, or if you are unable to make it to work for whatever reason knowing who to contact is very important.  Whatever the scenario, the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively will enhance productivity within the workplace.

2. Take breaks - Take breaks throughout the day.  If work becomes overwhelming or too strenuous, step back.  Your well-being comes first, and as long as you feel comfortable in your work environment everything should run smoothly.  If you feel fatigued, grab a snack or a glass of water.  The overall purpose is to bring yourself back into a focused state of mind so you can get your work done.

3. Set an example - You represent your employer from the time you come in until the time you clock out.  Success does not appear overnight; it starts with the individual.  Showing up on time to work and staying focused on your tasks throughout the day are two easy ways to set a positive precedent.  Employees who set a good example for their team show they have leadership qualities as well as a good work ethic.

4. Acknowledge all accomplishments - You should acknowledge all accomplishments and achievements no matter how small.  Giving someone recognition for their accomplishments will provide a great morale boost for your coworkers.  Giving positive feedback will help provide positive energy, and with positive energy comes increased work productivity.

5. Keep yourself busy - Be sure to keep yourself busy throughout the day.  If you ever catch yourself watching the clock, you do not have enough work to do!  Consistency of productivity throughout your day is the only solution to make the time fly.  Take on extra tasks if you feel that you can handle the load, or offer to help out others to lighten their workload.  Remember everyone on your team is working towards the same goal, and keeping busy is a great way to achieve it.
